So Nick & I have just returned from our weekend away, and honestly it was the loveliest weekend!!
We left the house early on Saturday morning and headed to Bicester. It was about three hours away so we stopped for breakfast at Leigh Delamere services. We arrived at Bicester around 10.30am after Nick took a wrong exit (haha).
I hadn’t been to Bicester before but was totally blown away by the outlets they had there. It was higher-end designer outlets than other malls I had been to; they had brands like Prada, Gucci and Dolce & Gabana. I was on the hunt for a new purse and definitely was not disappointed with the selection on offer!
The only things I felt Bicester was lacking was a cookware shop such a Tefal or Cook Shop, a more mainstream beauty shop like Beauty Outlet, and a bigger selection of restaurants.
Either way, it was a great day out and I would definitely recommend it if you’re in the area. I picked up a few bits and Nick got something for himself; a haul will be up on my Youtube channel next week; linked below.
After we’d finished shopping we started heading towards Watford where we were staying overnight. This took us about one hour and a half, including a stop at KFC for our lunch. Took us a little while to find the hotel carpark as there’s lots of one-way systems through Watford city.
We stayed in the Best Western White House Hotel which was right in the city. It was a lovely little hotel and the staff were lovely. When we arrived the reception staff informed us the restaurant was closed that evening but they gave us a complimentary breakfast for the following morning. We chilled in the room for a few hours then got changed and went for a little walk around the city and then for some dinner at Five Guys. These are always my favourite burgers and the restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night.
By the time we got back to the room it was pretty late so we got into bed and watched Harry Potter. Breakfast the next morning was lovely. It must have been pretty quiet in the hotel the night we stayed as we went down for brekkie about 20mins after they started serving and we were the first ones there. The staff were taking orders on the hot breakfast rather than the normal buffet because there was not many people. I thought this was a really nice touch and meant our breakfast was hot, fresh and tasty. I went for scrambled eggs, beans, a veggie sausage, bacon & mushrooms with some toast and fruit salad & yogurt (we planned to fill up on the breakfast so we weren’t hungry during the day).
After we checked out we drove to Warner Bros. Studios which was only about 10mins away. This is what we came away for, as Nick’s Mum & Stepdad had kindly got us tickets for Christmas. It was super easy collecting our tickets and getting in.
I honestly could not recommend the Harry Potter Studios Tour enough! It was the most incredible thing I have seen!!! It’s amazing to see how much effort goes in to the making of a film like Harry Potter. The details on the sets are absolutely phenominal.
As a huuuuge Harry Potter fan, it was so overwhelming and almost emotional. There was so much to see and I loved that you could take photos/videos most the way around. But even if you’re not the biggest Potter fan, you can definitely appreciate this behind the scenes look at how some of the costumes were developed and effects added in.
They say the tour takes an average of three hours to finish but you’re not restricted on how long you spend there; someone apparently spent 13 hours there!! Including a stop at the cafe for a Butterbeer and the time we took in the gift shop, we were there just over three hours, but I could have easily gone straight back round all over again!
We then had a three and half hour drive home and another lunch stop at KFC. It’s definitely been a 100% off plan weekend for us, but totally deserved and so so enjoyable.
We also posted our debut Youtube vlog all about our weekend away, which you can watch by clicking HERE. If you do watch, I’d love it if you could give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel.
