Can you believe it’s already the ninth month of the year?!
We’re three quarters of the way through 2018 and it’s only 114 until Christmas (apologies to all you Grinches out there).
I can’t help but feel a bit deflated about this year so far. Simply because I’ve let myself become distracted from what’s really important to me.
I’ve lost next to no weight for the last 6+ months, given up with my running and then started back at square one and I’ve neglected my blog &YouTube for the last couple of months.
Nevertheless, I’m not going to let the fact that there’s only 120 days left of this year stop me. Nope. If anything, I’m going to use the last 120 days as the final push to get me more towards where I want to be, to where I am now.
It’s safe to say that my progress came to halt around the same time I stopped planning and tracking my goals. Coincidence much? But that’s fine; what’s done is done and now I can only move forward.
There’s no better time to refresh your focus and set some new goals than a brand new month, so here goes. Here are my September goals!
Get back to my lightest weight
This has been one of my goals for a few months now. I feel like every time I get close, I slip away again. As of now, I have 6.5lbs to lose. I’m weighing again on Tuesday and honestly don’t know how that will go as this week has been a bit wobbly, but we will have to wait and see. I’ve decided to blind weigh until I get back to this goal, simply because I feel so deflated losing weight I’ve already lost, so I’m hoping that by taking that pressure away, it won’t seem as hard. With my blind weight, I will still have my results written down in my book, I just won’t look at them until at least the end of the month.
This is always a goal I struggle with, but with a holiday coming up, I want to feel my best before I go. Even if I don’t hit this goal, I like to have it as a constant incentive. On-plan to me means incorporating 1/3 speed foods with all my meals and staying within my syns (if you follow Slimming World you’ll know what I mean).
Workout 5x per week
As I mentioned before, I completed the Couch To 5k back in April/May time, but since then I didn’t run for a few months. I’ve since restarted the Couch To 5k with my local running group so am currently running three times per week. On top of that I’ve also rejoined the gym just to vary up my exercise a bit more. I want to be able to go to the gym twice a week, with one being maybe a new class like Spinning.
Read a book
It’s easy to let the little things fall off your radar when there’s a lot going on and reading has definitely been put off lately. I never read very much as I’m such a slow reader but it’s important to me that I read when I can. At the moment I’m part way through re-reading the Harry Potter books and am on Prisoner of Azkaban now. I aim to finish this one by the end of the month.
Perfect activity month
For anyone with an Apple Watch, you’ll know what I mean when I talk about ‘closing your rings’ each day. For this of you who don’t, it’s basically the Apple way of hitting your daily move, active minutes/exercise and steps/calories burned goals. You essentially have three ‘rings’ for the three goals and the aim is to make them go full-circle by the end of the day. You can customise each goal to fit in with your lifestyle and activity levels. I was off to a strong start in August but it tailed off towards the end of the month; I want to hit all of my goals every day this month.
Blog 1x per week
Apologies that I’ve not blogged much lately. In all honestly I’ve had a lot going on so struggled to make the time as well as lacking inspiration. I’ve realised that writing is my happy place and want to make sure I continue to love it, so am breaking myself back in slowly. If I feel like writing more then great!!
YouTube 1x per week
Similarly to writing, I’ve struggled to find the motivation to film, edit and post anything on my YouTube channel. It’s frustrating because I love doing it, but these things happens and I’m glad I took a break as I now feel ready to fire it back up. If there’s anything you’d like to see on my channel, please let me know. It’s linked down below.
And there we have it… September fully planned out. I try to keep my goals simple yet specific, so they’re achievable, motivating and measurable.
I also break down the month week-by-week and track my progress against each of my goals. Here is how September looks:
Hope you all have a wonderful month. Set some goals, smash them and repeat!
